In late August, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) instituted new 1-to-100 ENERGY STAR® building scores based on the latest market data collected through the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey. Now that the updated models are live in Portfolio Manager®, EPA is undertaking a review period beginning with a listening phase to solicit feedback from the commercial building sector. There are two opportunities for providing input:
- As a key ENERGY STAR partner, BOMA International has offered to compile feedback through a brief online survey. The deadline for submitting responses is Monday, October 15. Patterns observed across portfolios are particularly of interest as ENERGY STAR is seeking to identify broad trends to determine whether the scores are working as intended.
- After compiling the feedback from the survey, BOMA International will host a conference call with senior ENERGY STAR staff to review the score changes and provide a forum for questions. If you would like to be included on that call, please contact BOMA International Vice President of Advocacy & Building Codes John Bryant at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions about specific properties or scores should be directed to ENERGY STAR’s help desk. Additional information on the score updates can be found on the ENERGY STAR website.
