#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. Houston BOMA is participating by identifying the need in our community and partnering with these organizations to give them support for #GivingTuesdayNow.
The Houston Fire Department is seeking donations to the Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston, who are working to provide protection kits for all 4,000 firefighters in Houston. Any donations will go towards securing much-needed life-saving equipment that is essential to keeping our firefighters safe, as well as helping our community. BOMA has already donated $5,000 for this cause. Donate at https://www.fffhouston.com/product/first-responder-donation/.
NextOp is seeking donations to help continue getting veterans get back into the workforce. NextOp is a Houston BOMA partner organization that helps bridge the gap between veterans and industries by recruiting and placing transitioning military into meaningful careers where their skills and experience are fully utilized. In today's climate, unemployment continues to rise and clients are experiencing a challenging job market similar to 2008. Your contribution gives those who have given so much the opportunity to find their next career. Donate at https://donorbox.org/nextop_2020mm.
The Houston Police Department is seeking donations for mounted patrol through the Houston Police Foundation. It’s an issue close to Houston BOMA as we have our own sponsored horse, TOBY, as part of the mounted patrol program! Support TOBY and all of his human colleagues at https://www.houstonpolicefoundation.org/mounted-donation.
HPD is also seeking supply donations of Lysol spray and Clorox bleach wipes to help their officers stay safe as they continue their role in protecting our communities. To donate supplies reach out to Elisa Barnes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
